    [ Q.1 ] When are the animal shelters open to the public?

[ A.1 ] The County animal shelter are open to the public on Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM .

    [ Q.2 ] What do I do to complain about a barking dog?

[ A.2 ] Currently there is no ordinances pertaining to barking dogs. But you can call your local Sheriff department and ask for someone to come out.

    [ Q.3 ] Why do I have to license and vaccinate my dog - he never leaves the house?

[ A.3 ] No licenses are required in Taylor County . A rabies vaccination is required by State Law. Even though the odds are low, that guests or visitors may be bitten by you dog.

    [ Q.4 ] Why does it take so long for an animal control officer to respond to my call?

[ A.4 ] Taylor County only has one Animal Control Officer to cover a 1000 square miles. So it's basically first call, first served, he must respond to over 1500 calls per year.


    [ Q.5 ]What do to have a Dead Animal removed from the street.

    [ A.5 ] On county roads you would need to call Animal Control, or the County Road Department, if it's a State Road, then D.O.T. would need to be notified.


    [ Q.6 ] Do your shelter have animals available for adoption?

[ A.5 ] There are almost always a good variety of dogs and cats available for adoption. Other types of animals are also available, but not all types nor at all times. Puppies and kittens are more likely to be available for adoption in the Spring and Summer months. Note that the department advocates that adoption is a commitment for the lifetime of the animal. Accordingly, we discourage "impulse" adoptions, especially the week before Christmas and Easter. Call your local shelter for additional information.

What do I do about Lost & Found Animals? Making sure that your animals has on a collar with your name and address, and especially your phone number will make it easier to get your pet back to you and your family. If you don't have your pet with the proper collar, you can call the Animal Shelter and let us know that your pet is lost, a physical description would be helpful.
