Below is a summary of County employee benefits including vacation, retirement, insurance, and other benefits.

 

Insurance Coverage

Effective on the first day of the month following the employee's eligibility date. Payroll deductions for elected benefits begin the same date that coverage becomes effective. Part time employees hired to work less than 30 hours per week and temporary employees are not eligible for these benefits.

Accrual amounts above are based on full-time employment. No vacation can be bought or sold. Employees are encouraged to take their accrued vacation time each year. Department Heads and EMS employees accrue at slightly different rates.

Holidays

 

The County provides 10 paid holidays per year, 1 personal day per year. Eligible after (6) months of employment, Department Heads eligible immediately

Annual Leave

  • Hours are based on years of service
  • Can accumulate up to 480 hours
  • Upon termination, after one year of satisfactory service, employer will pay out any unused accrued annual leave

Administrative Leave

  • Immediately after employment
  • With approval maybe used for:
    1. Jury Duty
    2. Court Appearance
    3. Death ( Immediate family) - 2 days per occurrence

Sick Leave

  • Full-time employees accumulate sick leave which is available to be used when employee or family illnesses require absence from the job. Full-time employees accumulate 4 hours per full pay period of employment (13 days per year) to a maximum of 480 hours (60 days). No sick leave can be bought or sold.

Family / Medical Leave

  • Full -Time Employers are eligible after 12 months of employment (1,250 hours must have been worked immediately preceding the commencement of leave)
  • Paid or unpaid leave may be used for :
    1. Birth of a child or care of a newborn child
    2. placement of a child for adoption, foster care
    3. Care of a spouse, child, or parent with serious health condition
    4. Serious Health condition of employee

Health / Dental Insurance

  • Individual and family coverage available
  • Employer pays employee's portion of health premiums
  • Prescription card Rates discussed during in-processing
  • Annual Vision Exam
  • Employer pays premium for each regular employee
  • $15,000 Life / AD & D Policy

Pre - Flexible Benefits Plan
Effective first day of the month following 60 days employment

  • Dependent Health / Dental Insurance Premium
  • Additional Insurance options include confinement indemnify, accident, cancer, short-term disability, hospital intensive care protection, life insurance plans, personal property

Florida Retirement System

  • Eligible immediately upon employment
  • No cost to employee
  • Employer contributes a variable percentage of your salary
  • Vested after 6 years of creditable service

Professional and Educational Development

  • Employer will pay annual dues for approved professional organizations

Deferred Compensation Plan
