About Us

Taylor County Road Department is staffed by 20 Road Maintenance Technicians and Heavy Equipment Operators, 1 Mechanic, 1 Warehouse Clerk, 1 Office Manager, 1 Purchasing Agent and 1 Director. We have 5 motor graders, 1 track hoe, 1 grader, 2 dozier, 4 dump trucks, 1 small crane, 2 farm/mowing tractors, 1 small back hoe, 1 vibratory compactor, 1 steel wheeled roller, and 1 soil mixer, with which to perform the 7 major functions of Public Works.


The 7 major functions as performed by Road Dept. are: north and south routine road grading, road repair and maintenance, turnoff maintenance, mowing/brush trimming, drainage maintenance, bridge maintenance, and sign maintenance all of which is done on County property and the right-of-way.


The Road Department maintains approximately 300 miles of unpaved roads, and 275 miles of paved roads, 40 bridges, 5 traffic lights, over 1000 signs, and about 800 miles of drainage structures. As you can see, that's a lot of work for 20 people.
